Ruth Jakobi

Ruth Jakobi has been employed as Secretary General of the European Music Council, as Executive Officer of the Foundation "Podium for Young Musicians" and as International Relationship Coordinator of the Academy for Music and Theatre Hamburg.

She studied Music, French and Education in Hamburg, Germany and Lyon, France. As a flutist, she was member of different orchestras and chamber music groups and performed in several European places and beyond. Since 1993, Ruth Jakobi organised numerous international music cooperation projects. She gained wide ranging and multifacetted experience in the fields of intercultural communication, project development and financing.

She is often invited as a lecturer to international conferences or to cultural management study courses. She serves as Jury member in youth music competitions and was part of the Fair Music Award Jury in 2007. From October 2006 until October 2010 she served on the Board of Culture Action Europe.

Ruth Jakobi has three children: Muriel (*2008), Elena (*2010) and Raphael (*2013).
